My name is Dan Wethington and I have been a mental health counselor for the past five years in York, PA. Prior to this, I spent about ten years working in the social services field and I have worked with and been exposed to a diverse range of clients from children to people who are over 80 years old. This experience has been incredibly meaningful and I hope to bring some of the knowledge and experience that I have gained to my readers and to my clients who see me at my private practice, Arise Counseling Services LLC in York, PA.

I have expertise in working with a wide range of clients due to my experience, but I am most interested in helping people who have been depressed for a long time and who are feeling stuck. I know how easy it can be to push away those thoughts that your life is not going as it should be and to avoid making changes that make you feel anxious and uncomfortable for the sake of remaining in a comfortable place. If you are experiencing something like this, I encourage you to reach out to someone in your life and ask for help, and if you think that you could benefit from professional counseling, then please reach out to me and we will see if I can help to overcome depression, anxiety, or any other mental health problems that you are experiencing.
I believe that all people have the strength and innate capacity to grow in a positive direction, but that sometimes they get caught up by roadblocks in life. One of the my goals in therapy is to help people to discover and overcome these obstacles so that they can continue to grow in a positive way and realize their own personal goals and potential.
Reflect, Aspire, Arise
This is the general therapeutic process that I like to use. First I encourage clients to reflect on their lives, analyze where they are and how they got there as well as what keeps them in this place. Then we aspire and consider what life could be if they make the changes that are needed. We take time to explore the obstacles in their path and how to overcome these. Finally, I encourage the client to arise, confront their fears, battle their depression, and take the steps along their journey to move toward achieving their dreams.
